I bought this item primarily because of its look, and it looks nice with my other furniture of this type.However, it is also surprisingly sturdy and provides a great amount of storage.On the shelves I am able to fit a video gaming system, a DVD player, a DVD recorder, and a satellite receiver.It is very wide with convenient holes in the back to organize your wires.It sets a 42" HDTV at my preferred level for viewing from the couch, but some people may want their TV higher, so check the dimensions.It definitely fits into a modern or contemporary decor best.The only drawback is that it takes a long time to assemble (or maybe that was just me).I searched at stores and online and this item was the best value with the style I like.
