The product description states, "Some assembly may be required". I'm here to tell you that complete assembly from the ground up is required. Once assembled it cannot be easily moved so assembly at the intended location is highly recommended. If you intend to move it from one house to another I would recommend dis-assembly and re-assembly because it can be easily damaged during a move. The outer gables (foot board & head board) arrived damaged, but were replaced quickly at no charge after contacting PrePac directly. The biggest problems with assembly are related to hardware issues. Holes are drilled in the press board very near to edges and can be easily damaged. Some of the hardware fits together very tightly and should be tested before assembly. I broke out a piece of press board along an edge because a screw stuck in an assembly anchor and twisted the anchor inside the press board causing it to break at that location. After that I tested each screw and anchor before assembly, and with pliers and a screw driver had to force many of the screws into the anchors to re-thread. After that they worked fine. The drawer sides are made of an an extremely brittle wood and crack easily when fitted together with the provided hardware which fits very tightly into the pre-drilled holes. I had to make some repairs with clamps and wood glue. I highly recommend using wood glue when assembling the drawers to overcome hardware and wood splitting issues. Don't over tighten the hardware and stop when the glue squeezes out. Over tightening of the hardware will crack the wood. I also had some hardware breakage. Carpentry experience is a plus. The bed slats have a rough and smooth side, so be sure to assemble with the smooth side up facing the bed. I am satisfied with the finished assembly and the drawers slide very easily. If I decide to move however, I will leave it behind. It's just too difficult to move after it is assembled.
